I completely agree with Logiclife and the goals IV has setforth to solve our problems. There is only so much one can achieve with limited resources under which IV operates.
We need to have a set of priorities and work on that one step at time. Though I have not been to DC, I can understand what IV is going through to get us some relief. The least I can do is contribute for our cause and thats what I am doing right now.
I wish people had some common sense and better understanding of the bigger picture(& issues) before they get involved in finger pointing and asking for more.
Everyone, please be patient and support IV whole heartedly and financially so that we can atleast attempt to fix the broken immigration system. Though I am VERY optimistic that we will achieve our goals in the near future, but I would not regret even once, if we failed. It is better to try and fail than not give it a shot at all.

Makes me wonder why we're paying our lawyers. I'm learning more from this forum than what he's told me over 6 years of interaction.
LOL, I know. I really regret that I wasn't on these forums years ago, I wouldn't have done so many mistakes. I was thinking "what all these dudes on these forums know? I got a big lawyer with tie and bunch of certificates as best of the best of the best." The life taught me totally opposite.

One step closer.
With last year crisscrossing, EB2 India most apps are cleared upto september 2004. We should not have too many in 2004 except substitution cases.
Hope it will step into 2005 in next 4 months....
Yes, I guess the slowdown will happen when it hits the 2005 mark when PERM was introducted and a lot of EB3 were converted into EB2

This is what I mean by fingerpointing. So why are u so special? Just because u claim to be honest u must not point fingers at others. I am not criticizing u or not arguing, but fingerpointing will not lead to anything constructive. From what I have done so far, I have no clue if I have done something wrong, u r already pointing finger at me.
People in the past and currently are working hard to achieve their goals, fingerpointing and blaming others for the situation will never help.
What are YOU smoking????
Did I say I am special? Don't put words in my mouth. So if you think that abiding by the law makes one special, then I am guilty as charged :-)
Your "fingerpointing" and "why are you special" comment really cracks me up :D

I think this is good news, but I am not sure if this will affect me. I have PERM approved labor on my name. I didn't apply for I-140 because I wanted my wife to get F1 visa before doing that. This is because F1 application for my wife can have problem if there is immigration petition and she is beneficiary. I don't know how much time its going to take me to get greencard or work authorization for my wife and I want her to get the advantage of OPT after completing her studies so that she can make her career.
So I guess if this rule comes, I have to apply I-140 immediately? Is this true? Please advice me.
[Contribution so far $40. $20 December and $20 January.]
01/29/2007: Special Alert: DOL Submitted "Final" Regulation of Substitution Elimination Rule to OMB on 01/26/2007
* Since this is a final rule, upon approval by OMB, the elimination of substitution and 45-day validity of certified labor certification will be triggered. Take this message as a very special alert! This rule will not only eliminate substitutition on the OMB approval and release in the Federal Register but also kill the certified labor certification unless it is used within 45 days from the date of certification! Please stay tuned to this web site reporting.
* The planned implementation day appears to be April 2007. But it can be earlier!

I got a lot of messages asking for the letter to Sec. Napolatino. I think I have emailed everyone back, if you have not received an email back from me, please send me a message again.
One of the messages I got, it did not have an email address. I have sent you a message back asking for your email address.
Good luck!

They want to charge $8500 for every renewal . I have a better idea here , make H1 valid for 3 months instead of 3 years, More money for these guys.
All of these guys are competing give amnesty at the same punishing employers who play by the rules.
These guys should be ashamed themselves. I dont be suprised if some of desi consulting companies encourage people to convert from H1 to Z1.

This is really bad news indeed. USCIS is screwing us up big time. How can they see a demand for the numbers when there is no one applying for the past 3 months?
Any why cann't they determine Oct dates for EB3 now? What will change in Early September? Are they going to process any EB3 with "U" in early September? This is so BS.

There is a funding drive in this other thread towards reimbursing Aman's expenses.
http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/sh...874#post125874
Could you please pledge an amount ?
And what about the time Aman and the core team has put into this whole effort....it can never be earned back...and hence NOT at all quantifiable...and I wouldn't even attempt at adding that up...
Thanks Aman and the whole team.....you guys are making a difference in the lives of so many people...
Now, everyone else roll up your sleeves and contribute...money, time, whatever you can for the cause..and Thank the team in your own style.

The tortoise continues down the path
Our legislation, HR 5924, continues to gain support. Were up to ten co-sponsors who have signed onto Rep. Wexlers bill:
Rep Sensenbrenner, F. James, Jr. [WI-5] - 4/29/2008
Rep McCarthy, Carolyn [NY-4] - 5/14/2008
Rep Putnam, Adam H. [FL-12] - 5/14/2008
Rep Cohen, Steve [TN-9] - 5/22/2008
Rep Pastor, Ed [AZ-4] - 5/22/2008
Rep Andrews, Robert E. [NJ-1] - 6/3/2008
Rep Davis, Danny K. [IL-7] - 6/3/2008
Rep Johnson, Eddie Bernice [TX-30] - 6/3/2008
Rep Jackson-Lee, Sheila [TX-18] - 6/3/2008
Rep Wasserman Schultz, Debbie [FL-20] - 6/4/2008
Our efforts on Wednesday and Thursday should lead to additional co-sponsors in the next few days and weeks.
The most notable piece of news beyond the momentum that were gathering with co-sponsors is that on Thursday June 12, the subcommittee on immigration, citizenship, refugees, border security, and international law will have a formal hearing on our bill. We are working with the Congressional staffers to identify the appropriate witnesses to speak on this urgent issue.

Exactly true but hard to beleive. Think how much you know about your home country immigration. That should answer this question. Most of my american colleagues are suprised to hear
1. It is risk to buy house? Why? I am on H1b visa. What is that?
My wife cannot work? WHy? she is on H4? What is that?
I cannot jump companies as my gc is in progress? Why? Will you get your gc in next three months? No.
When you will get your gc? May be after 6 years or later.
WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT... WHY? etc etc
They do not know anything and they do not care.
Spot on. i think the anti-immigrants grossly magnify the hue and cry over H1-B abuses. Most americans dont know what H1-B is and nor do they care. The only immigrants they have heard about are the illegal kind. Ordinary americans are mostly indifferent to legal immigration. Politicians care first for their votebanks (present and future) and second for their sources of funding aka corporate lobbies. They are the ones who have the ability to make a difference.

The point is what did we lose by calling. It took us a call which any way is free. Took 2-3 minutes of our time which other wise we were not planning to use in any other better activity. So even if the campaign fails ( I pray it does not) still we havent lost finacially or in any way. Atleast it brought so many people together to do something constructive. Made people understand how a bill works in senate.
To your other point that senetors do not care about non voters then then the only other way is lobbying and paying for campaign funds. Can we do that the answer is plain NO. Most people on H1B are working for blod sucking consultants who pa them far less than what they deserve. How much can they contribute financially if they have dependent wife an kid here and parents in home country. Add to this the job insecurity in current market and there is no guarranty that paying one time will bring any results. Least this way every one contributes.

This bill is in House judicial committee for markup only. This bill is not tabled on house floor yet. Even after markup and voting, this bill still needs to be tabled on house floor. If it gets approved there, similar measure S3414 will be brought to Senate floor for voting.
