The name check takes 2 years anyway, making a mockery of fast processing times. Even VSC, which is the slowest, takes less than 2 yrs for 485.
Wait a minute; I thought the name check is part of the I485 approval (and for those who file I-140 and I-485 concurrently, part of the I-140 approval). It wouldn't make any sense if the I-485 is approved and they are still checking the identity.
Also, the thread has been quiet due to lack of hope regarding the speed of processing centers (Wata, I am with you on the Nebraska one) and the unreliability of promises for improvements.

I applied for my H1B 9th year extension using I-140 substitution in 10th March 2008. My 8th year H1B was expired on 14th April 2008. Currently my 9th year H1B extension was is in pending status. Unfortunately my I-140 was denied on 18th April 2008 due to 4 years Bachelors degree.
I used PERM EB2 labor substitution (May 2006 PD) and filed I-140 in July 2007 and denied (NSC) directly with out RFE. This is due to 4 years bachelor's degree and I have 10+2+3(Diploma) +3 (engineering-AMIE). I already applied my 485, EAD and AP. I got AP and EAD, but didn�t use it.
Now how can I get my 9th year extension?
Can I appeal for I-140 and get 9th year H1B extension?
Could you please give me your valuable suggestions on this?

Get your degrees evaluated by the certified evluators and add your experience to be qualified or you can go for EB 3 but your priority date will remain the same. A friend of mine was in the same boat, but had 3 years commerce college and 2 years MBA from UK and was in his 9th year of H1, I 140 was denied. He appealed and REAPPLIED I 140 with all the evaluations, he got approval in less than a month but EB3 with the same old priority date.

I was trying to find out if there are any other options to record my departure date and returning I-94 when I leave US by LAND.
Looks like the only option for people leaving by Land is to send the I-94 to "ACS - CBP SBU". In my case, I will have to send this along with details proving my stay in Canada after leaving US.

Sorry to hear about your lengthy RFE. I received a similar RFE but just asked contract documents between my company and client. I have 2 layers in between. My company, Prime Vendor and Client.
I've submitted POs showing the contract and a letter from Prime Vendor stating that I work on a project for Client.
Just responded to the RFE and keeping my fingers crossed.

Newsflash: USA is a country (with a boundary). USA has a national anthem. They like to sing it, everywhere. If it makes them happy when I sing it, I will sing it too. It is like visiting someone's home and you are asked to take off your shoes at the entrance. Maybe you don't agree with it, but out of respect to the host it is a nice thing to do.
Relax and be more generous! I think you have more boundaries in you than this country has.
(If USA goes to war with my home country, I think they will trust me less if I come here and live and refuse to sing the national anthem...)

If we sing each nation's anthem and leave out theirs, this will mean disrespect. !
I think we are not yet permenant residents of this country .. so singing the NAnthem does not look appropriate. But due compliments to Pankaj, He has a wonderful voice!
You never know what will happen to our GCs!! So lets remmember where we are from & what state we are now, that will help us to be more pragmatic.
And about the war thing, my conscience may not permit me to support another nation at this point in time!!

Just a bump...and my two cents.
I don't own a D70, I have 10D but...I work in a local camera shop and sell D70's, left and right I might add. I'm hearing quite a bit about this backfocusing issue but nobody seems to be referring to it in the same manner. Most people are just saying their images are soft. At first it seemed like the problem was mainly happening for the people who were used to P/S cameras or simply not used to Nikon's AF system, so we basically gave suggestions similar to what you find here and told them that they could still return the cameras to Nikon if they were in warranty. Anyway, my one co-worker that doesn't shoot Canon buys a D70 and sure enough, he's complaining about soft focus. At middle apertures (on the kit lens, mind you) like 5.6 and 8 his images look sorta acceptable, but not tack sharp. We tried out the 12-24 and got better results (maybe just a sharper lens overall?), as well as with the 10mm fisheye, and of course all of the longer zooms, 80-200, and 200-400 were sharp. Could it just be that the kit lens, which nearly everyone has is just garbage? This guy is now seriously considering the 20D.
