It will help. I will give you an practical example.
I filed my GC two months later than my colleagues. Fortunately they filed 485 and hit the retrogression. I did not get to that step. Now it is almost two years after they have filed their 485. Just because they have crossed that stage, they are considered for promtion and I am not though I have better experience and certifications. They bought houses and their spouses work.
My company is ready to promote me to higher position if I can cross that 180days mark after 485 filing. If I had promoted to leadership / managerial position, it would weigh more when I apply for MBA. I will have lesser headache at home if my spouse can work and lot more.
The best part of filing is, you could get EAD even if the 485 is pending and backlogged. You have to do nothing other than filing to get all the above perks. No need to get it approved. Let it get stuck anywhere, none can predict that. You have to cross this stage no matter what and why not at the earliest. No one can assure you even after the SKIL/CIR passage that you will not get stuck with name check / RFE /USCIS backlog etc. Why to wait then?
I am not sure the supplimental bill helps much to provide relief. it would basically create bunch of more backlogs at CIS and would even make 6 months to 1 year for EAD appoval , causing more backlog.

You forgot the lawyers. How does it affect them? They are an important part of any law when written or changed.
Though there is no charge to revoke I-140 from CIS, corporate lawyers do charge money and that makes it in their interest to convince & pursue HR ppl to do so.:(

My wife recieved AP which was approved on 30 Aug. They approved mine on Aug 31. I have not recieved AP yet. My attorney advised to wait for 30 days.

Got the status update email from USCIS stating a card has been issued for my 485 application.
I am not married yet. What are the implications if I get married to a citizen of india residing in India.
Kindly refer me to appropriate material if you know of any.

Surprised to see that you were unware of this. Getting GC is painful process as we all know. There are three situations
1) Don't file I-485 till you get married. Risk, you might have already used 6 years on H1.
2) File your I-485 and get quickly married , then you can add your spouse. Do a court marriage in US and later you can do a marriage ceremony in India.
3) File your I-485 and get green card with out having chance to add your spouse
Since you fall in category 3, your situation may be worst.
Couple of options
1) If the girl(or guy :)) is in US, absolutely no problem. Only thing is if girl is already in US, you will get lot of family pressure from girl side.Have to compromise on lots of things. May be will become a house husband.
2) Girl from India, now you have to find a really smart girl who can get admission to universities or pass TOFEL GRE etc with flying colors. Then long distance affair starts. Girl in city X studying guy in city Y. Meeting once in a month. Lossing lot of money on commute and mental peace.The girl will have now her own friend circle and over period of time she might start liking someone else. Based on real situations.
3) Move to Canada and apply for Canadian citizenship. That's easier to get and easier to bring spouse there. But again you won't be able to bring her to US
4) Wait for 5 years. Who will want to wait for you 5 years.
Best Option
Return to your home country and enjoy life there. Believe me you won't have never any regret in life. It's just not worth for all the pains and miseries it bring in one's life. GC : Grievance Card.

At this point, I'm not interested in learning XML or XSLT, my point was that you really don't <i>need</i> all of those things, escpecially when you are first starting out. There are plenty of people who would be happy to hire someone and keep paying them to update. And PHP would work just as well as a content management system (with mySQL of course)

They won't wait for your PD to be current to issue FP Notice.
Also, I don't think (my 2 cents) its advisable to travel before FP.. You never know when it will come and if you miss it... its considered as if you ignored it... They will issue one more FP notice before closing your AOS application...
So its needed to keep track of FP notice...

What difference does it make if it is EB@ or EB3, the point is, we should stand UNITED we all benefit. If the recapture visa bill passes, then we all will benefit.
Please don't post any more viewpoints stating " I wont fight"
It is your loss and everyone's . If you choose to step out of IV and fight all by yourself, I wish you all the best.
We senior members have been fighting for the greater cause, it for you junior members to carry this forward. The foundation of IV has to be strong, it has been strong.
IV has not patience for people who want to discriminate between EB2 or EB3, we need people who see a broader perspective of things, EB community as a whole.

well..I have been waiting for my labor certifcation to get certfied for too long. just after Sep 11 I applied both for US GC and Canadian PR. My wife also applied for her GC. meanwhile her GC moved to regional when suddenly DOL thought it was time to regroup and there it went into BPC. In the meantime we got canadian PR some 2 years ago but we did not move thinking that we have jobs here.Then she got pregnant and lot of complications ( premature labor) and during those complications her company got acquired by another bigger firm who thought they don't need her..and result was job loss plus GC into the trash....meanwhile my labor certification even after 5 years was still sleeping in EB3 category(PD Oct, 2001) when i still have Masters( god knows why my lawyer put into that category)..Now my canadian PR was set to expire in march, 2007..so I thought i should decide fast..and i applied for jobs..and I got offer in vancouver with moving expenses paid from califronia..It has been the toughest decision because my employer is Indian here in california..and I have had good growth(10% average) but not the way I had wanted..I guess he also exploits..Indian exploiting another Indian..because they know I am not going anywhere..plus we work hard.. I asked him to match what was being offered in vancouver..and he started converting CAD into USD..well..it is not fair..So I have decided to heck with US and the Employer..and move on...at least I can come back..it is not an easy move because my son being premature child had lot of free facilities in california..hopefully he will get the same in Vancouver until he gets to 3 years ..and then it stops..

I wish things could work out for you in US. It is sad and there are thousands of people like you with badly affected personal lives due to the broken immigration system. A lot of my motivation to work for IV also comes from coming across people like you and thus feel strongly to do something to solve problems affecting each one of us in the IV community we have all built. L1 A are managerial positions. they can apply in EB1 through employer. Hence it is possible to get GC in Green Cards.What he is saying is true.

OK here is the deal--this is a capitalistic economy and every action is ultimately based on demands. Requirements to grant GC to H1b worker is not a pressing issue to this economy at present, however, creating a temp worker program/Z visas is an urgent issue which catches more attention. The farm hands, construction workers, meat / fish industry workers are in equal or even more demand these days simply because of the fact that they work for far less money and more efficiently than an avg american counterpart. These industries are strugling to survive and depend on ilegals a lot. Reg legal immig--there is no economic boom to suddenly focus the atention on legal immig of high skilled people. The economy is in a very slow pace and most of the major industries (software/biotech/chemical etc) are not in a hiring spree to make them really cry out for H1b worker. Having said all this, the farmers / construction workers etc would have preffered a status quo on this issue because once the bill is enacted-- 1) the worker will have more right and will therefore demand more 2) The workers availability will be limited given that only 200K are allowed per year. 3) Ilegals will still be there, however, under new rules hiring them will be almost suicidal given the strict penalties. All these will add up to another economic tragedy.

my I485 lud got updated today , but the case status is still showing pending, when i called the officer she said they dont know what is lud ? but she said the case is pending.. any idea what does it means when lud is updated does that mean the case is now ready to be assigned by officer ?????:confused:

They do not need to be notarized as long as they are self-attested. Scanned copies are fine. Retain the original with you in case the CIS asks for it.
